Ukulele? Simple as that.

If you play the ukulele, you'll understand. The uke is just a simply beautiful instrument to hear and what many don't know is that it calms you down when you play as well. Having a bad day? Pick up your ukulele. I have a Kohala Mahogany Soprano that I purchased about four months ago and, believe it or not, I played several songs by the end of the day without any experience whatsoever.
They make you feel happy inside, and all you want to do is smile. Here, try this.

Some info before you know: Pointer finger= first finger
                                              Middle finger=second finger
                                              Ring finger= third finger
                                              Pinky=fourth finger
Definitions:
Fret=metal bar to separate each note.
Chord= notes put together to create a sound that all fits
Neck= the long part with the frets on it.
Body= the hollow part with the hole and strings.
Tuning pegs= knobs you turn to tune your uke

The ukulele is such a small, portable and wonderful travel companion. Whether you play it by ear, play it at home, or play it in the park, it's such a beautiful instrument that brings a smile to anyone's face.

Now, not many bands feature the ukulele. My favorite band just happens to have the main singer playing the ukulele. This band from New Mexico has inspired me to write songs and play many songs on the trumpet and ukulele. The band is called "Beirut". My favorite song by them is Postcards from Italy (which I just figured out on ukulele just a few days ago!) because it's so unique and different, but catchy as well.

And you know, with all the dubstep and rap these days it's hard to find really good old fashioned music that you tap your toes to. But as you know, this never appears on the radio, so playing ukulele has really helped me escape from the radio and play whatever I want to hear.
